Water Testing - Pavilion

The Council is committed to ensuring that the Pavilion remains safe for all users. As part of this responsibility, regular water safety testing is undertaken in accordance with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidance.

When buildings are used infrequently, closed for periods of time, or undergo repair works, water can remain stagnant in pipework and storage systems. This can increase the risk of bacteria, including Legionella, developing within the water system. Legionella can cause Legionnaires' disease, a serious form of pneumonia that can be contracted by inhaling contaminated water droplets.

Regular testing and monitoring help to:

  • Ensure the Pavilion's water system remains safe to use.
  • Identify any potential water quality issues at an early stage.
  • Confirm that control measures are working effectively.
  • Meet the Council's legal health and safety obligations.
  • Protect Pavilion users, hirers, volunteers, contractors, and visitors.

Following recent repair works, the Council has introduced a programme of routine water testing and record keeping. Designated individuals will carry out the required checks, and records will be maintained to demonstrate compliance with HSE guidance and good practice.
